Once again I return to share some of my latest work. This piece has been in various stages of development for about 6 months. I am very happy to have finally completed it. As always, as soon as you deem a work "finished" there are always areas that you see that could have been handled differently. It is perhaps the reason to keep working in the studio.....there is always the opportunity to get it right the next time. After completing several new pastel paintings I usually am driven to stretch my artistic wings and delve into absstract mixed media work. Conch shells of this size are not native to the beaches of the cape, hence the title. This painting is almost complete. The sand surrounding the base of the shell keeps calling to me for some finishing touches, but I'm not sure what those should be so I'm letting it percolate for awhile. As you can see, I've had a productive summer.Babshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00853078842160521839noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2093723524123037087.post-48024266934987615322011-10-26T18:21:00.000-07:002011-10-26T18:21:08.227-07:00Montana Sky<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEherIITcDBkkSYKSNXkEGqYuJ6KtWG4L8MENfqwNk2VMiWnajAqk2NZ6kxfEYTe7i7h9sFMZzYce6Ei59xihIFtIdG6CgO-Zs0BlcxJIvre_dla6X1aU57XChCi3pT83T6B-9Q-_fV3IVg/s1600/Donahue_B_A_MontanaSky.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEherIITcDBkkSYKSNXkEGqYuJ6KtWG4L8MENfqwNk2VMiWnajAqk2NZ6kxfEYTe7i7h9sFMZzYce6Ei59xihIFtIdG6CgO-Zs0BlcxJIvre_dla6X1aU57XChCi3pT83T6B-9Q-_fV3IVg/s320/Donahue_B_A_MontanaSky.jpg" width="244" /></a></div>Montana Sky was recently selected for the nationally juried show, For Pastels Only On Cape Cod, 2011. It is my first attempt at a low-light sunset painting and I was rather pleased with the outcome. My favorite time of the day is when the light is low in the sky and twilight is approaching. Cape Cod is well known for its glorious sunsets and I couldn't resist trying to capture this one.Babshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00853078842160521839noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2093723524123037087.post-19492452198831944002010-01-11T19:35:00.000-08:002010-01-11T19:41:26.014-08:00Bayside Sunset<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZPZu0XmdUIstc8G7F5uKn7g3DNQioT7A5YnZtweJWzguGr1S3i6PLD9f9GpobWr6x2DKcvd9UEZFiGIi0MGZx0l3hKchfv6bzL7DRY07twlA0IEwZDlqWPpn8XQWgaZOhlIVHTs-5Z88/s1600-h/DSC00477.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 241px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZPZu0XmdUIstc8G7F5uKn7g3DNQioT7A5YnZtweJWzguGr1S3i6PLD9f9GpobWr6x2DKcvd9UEZFiGIi0MGZx0l3hKchfv6bzL7DRY07twlA0IEwZDlqWPpn8XQWgaZOhlIVHTs-5Z88/s320/DSC00477.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425692241271590610" /></a>Babshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00853078842160521839noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2093723524123037087.post-80697498649521276262010-01-11T19:04:00.000-08:002010-01-11T19:10:34.494-08:00<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqT7Zd-gAZeYIOD4joxNoIgst8ZgKehwDX7DMxA4Hcx5d2MDDjoLnxZJFxQd0yem2Rb2IF5VirzHaBA3yM5hBkfD_dhQT7IFUEbze1uJgRZCxPg-wVkM2QIAebl94pSQ5EFL9qTlB26zg/s1600-h/DSC00477.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqT7Zd-gAZeYIOD4joxNoIgst8ZgKehwDX7DMxA4Hcx5d2MDDjoLnxZJFxQd0yem2Rb2IF5VirzHaBA3yM5hBkfD_dhQT7IFUEbze1uJgRZCxPg-wVkM2QIAebl94pSQ5EFL9qTlB26zg/s320/DSC00477.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425684891692015042" /></a>Babshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00853078842160521839noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2093723524123037087.post-73957974877102221452009-05-21T11:53:00.000-07:002009-05-21T12:00:12.501-07:00Heading In<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw_0x4QocDJ8Bf3DTfU6EMOeRtJqHFbnDyVn3vz0EI__-vhGAyR7iwqjCwXOiEf-PaTddjma6cYZrzO6OWpXHlzy3Ba12m8CNwj4KAUokMntcR07Y8-XPE9sRmITaM2pwr4jIk9A2xsVY/s1600-h/Donahue+Barbara+-+Heading+In+-+800p.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338352811269542146" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw_0x4QocDJ8Bf3DTfU6EMOeRtJqHFbnDyVn3vz0EI__-vhGAyR7iwqjCwXOiEf-PaTddjma6cYZrzO6OWpXHlzy3Ba12m8CNwj4KAUokMntcR07Y8-XPE9sRmITaM2pwr4jIk9A2xsVY/s320/Donahue+Barbara+-+Heading+In+-+800p.jpg" border="0" /></a> I've been working on this painting for quite a while.
